Whether traveling, getting jobs, cheering, or going to the beach we all wonder where will “Summer in the Burg take us?”

In town, we have the Prime Outlets offering an abundance of job opportunities for young people. From clothing and shoes stores, to small restaurants this is usually a job hub for young teens looking for part-time or full-time jobs. Rising Jamestown senior Kelly Saintmire says, “I plan to work somewhere in Williamsburg there’s tons of jobs out there.” The Prime Outlets might be a hit because most teens shoot for stores that start off with great pay and offer great benefits such as free merchandise and store discounts. Sophomore Kenisha Miles of Warhill high school said, “I look forward to finding a job in retail I’ll most likely work in the Prime Outlets or somewhere in that nature because, I like clothes and shoes.” Clearly, the Prime Outlets would be a great place for her to work.

In Williamsburg, there are two beaches to enjoy the Jamestown Beach and College Creek Beach. Most teens go to the Jamestown beach so they can tan, swim, and enjoy company amongst other teens doing the same activity. Most of the time when teens go to the beach there’s beautiful weather outside and the sky is nice and blue. Rising Jamestown seniors Kelly Saintmire and Krystal Lightell mentioned that they’re “going to tan and hang with friends at the beach to pass time.” Summer at the beach is a wonderful time enjoy company and live your life. As Carliejah Wallace of Warhill said,” I’ll be chilling whenever I get a chance.”

This summer a lot of teens are going on trips with family and friends. In particular, Jazzlyn Harrison of Jamestown said, “I’m going to Costa Rica with the school. It cost $2,000 it covers meals, hotels, and sightseeing.” She mentioned, that she was excited for the trip because it’s sponsored through the school and she will be able hang out with her classmates. Jazzlyn said, “I would to visit San Jose the capitol of Costa Rica and visit the Manuel Antonio National Park.” Therefore, when she visits San Jose she can see the Talamanca Mountains to the south of San Jose and watch the volcanoes towards the North. The city itself has a strong Spanish culture and it shows from its buildings, people, and food. When she visits the Manuel Antonio National Park she’ll experience the beauty of the white-sand beaches. She’ll see an abundance of tropical plants and wildlife as well.

Besides going to the beach, getting a job, and going on trips for many there is also, high school sports cheering. Carliejah Wallace said, “Since this is my Senior year I’ll cheer with my girls one last time.” In Williamsburg, there is a big sports culture, Mariya Dixon mentioned that, she’s “also doing cheer and I looking forward to visiting Howard University this summer.”

Overall, “Summer in the Burg” is a wonderful time of the year when teens venture off and get jobs, meet new people, and build relationships. But the most important thing is to always be safe and make conscious decisions, because all accidents can be prevented.
