Soccer is a passion for the Rams

Last night under the lights of Wanner Stadium, our Rams defeated the New Kent Trojans by a final tally of 3-1.

The Rams set the tone of the match by converting the opening kickoff into a goal in the first 15 seconds of the match.  The kickoff went back to Christopher James who sent it down the left side to Zach Galli who crossed it perfectly to find the head of Logan Ponzo.  The first half was dominated by the Rams but we did not find the back of the net again until after halftime.

At the 60 minute mark, Cannon Newell put the second net in for the Rams to give us what we felt was a comfortable lead, however, the Trojans were not about to roll over.  Soon after, they slide a ball through to their striker and chipped our keeper to make the match 2-1.  With the momentum in their favor, the Trojans intensified their attack and had more chances than they did in the entirety of  first half.

But our Rams knew the importance of the win and refused to allow another net.  With 10 minutes remaining in the match, Chadrick Irvine put the final goal in when he found the back of the net with a strike from the top of the box.

After 80 minutes of play, the final score was 3-1.  Currently we are 4-4-1 with 4 games remaining in the season.  Our next match is against the Jamestown Eagles on Friday night – we hope to see you there!
