A Quiet Place hit theaters April 6th and became a hit thriller right away. Directed by John Krasinski, who also stars in the film, it is about a family that survived an apocalypse of creatures that can not see, but can hear. The creatures kill anyone or anything that they can hear. The family in the movie has to do whatever it takes to be as quiet as they can in order to survive. The dad is played by John Krasinski, who is well known for his role in the TV show “The Office,” and the mom is played by Emily Blunt. The two kids are played by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.  Critics thought the movie was good, but to be a thriller, it needed more tension and frighting elements.  A Quiet Place scored 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, 8.1/10 on IMDb, and 3.5/4 by Roger Ebert. These reviews are very positive, clear testimony to the quality of the film.

John Kaminski’s acting was particularly noticeable because of how well he portrayed his character. He was able to show both great emotion and humor in his role. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds performed well too, but they didn’t have as big as a role as the mom or dad. There was a problem with Emily Blunt’s acting in the story, however. She had a big part, but it wasn’t the best performance she could have had. for example, her emotions when her kid died were little to none and threw out the movie it did not look like her mood ever changed. Maybe it was just the way her character was represented in the movie, but she didn’t impress. She could have done much more with her character.

There are many different opinions about the movie. Lafayette Junior Will Darling said, “The movie was not as good as it could have been. It had flaws in the part of the movie where the family was making more noise than ever, and should have died but they lived, which just wasn’t right.” Many agree with Will that the movie could have been more loyal to the facts given in the film, so it would have been more aligned with the expectations of the audience.

Overall, the movie was good and well-liked by most of those polled. It had a very good story line and acting.  Based on the reviews of the film, one can see that the critics think the movie is great as well. Compared to all the movies currently in theaters, this is by far the best choice to go see.  Anyone looking for a new and exiting movie to watch should go see A Quiet place.
