This year’s Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk shocked viewers during the season 22 finale of “The Bachelor.”  Arie picked the publicist from Minnesota, Becca Kufrin, to be his bride. However, at the “After the final rose” episode, Arie announced that they are no longer together. Not only did he end things with Becca K, he also rekindled his love with runner-up Lauren Burnham. In the days leading up to the dramatic finale, there were concerns that Arie had a change of heart after his proposal.

Arie revealed that he had reached out to Lauren behind Becca’s back. He had doubts and feelings of extreme guilt for not choosing Lauren. He blindsided Becca with the news of their broken engagement. “This is my journey, and this is about finding a lasting love and that road is not always the easiest,” he said. “It’s all about the ending and finding that person for yourself and that’s the important part. I’m very happy,” Arie said. Becca reported that she has had zero communication from Arie since the brutal breakup.

The scene was very hard and upsetting to watch. Becca started out thinking she was going to spend a romantic weekend with her fiancé but soon after ended up in tears after the shocking news. Many viewers are upset and think it was horrible for them to tape the whole breakup live. Lucy Ward Ward tweeted “I can’t believe this whole thing was filmed. Becca is a human being who deserves the privacy to cry and scream! ABC and The Bachelor should be ashamed. No one should ever sign their lives away like this! It’s embarrassing! And, Arie, for God sakes, LEAVE!”

Arie’s journey for love was rocky. In the end, Lauren forgave Arie and he proposed to her soon after on February 15. Lauren said she knew he had made a mistake choosing Becca at first and thought they would still have a chance. This season was definitely drama filled and some may say that this was the “Worst Bachelor in history”.
