Red Sox Landing Big Bat During Off-Season

The Red Sox need to employ a Big Stick in the middle of their lineup for post-season succes.

For past two years the Red Sox have had phenomenal seasons, winning the American League East in the 2016 season with a record of 93-69, and again in 2017 going 93-69. In 2016 the Red Sox faced the Indians who later went to the World Series first round, and they got swept. David Ortiz, aka “Big Papi’s”. Big Papi was crucial to the Red Sox post seasons success in 2004, 2007, and 2013. It’s obvious that the Red Sox have lost a huge bat in their lineup in loosing Big Papi. The Red Sox repeated their Post Season results in 2017, but without big Papi. The Red Sox need another big bat in the middle of their lineup.

Turner Johnson wears a jersey bearing the name of one of the best Sox players to ever live.

The team has expressed have very high interest in J.D Martinez, is a rookie outfielder who plays for the Diamondbacks. He finished his 2017 season third in the league in homeruns with (forty-five). The Red Sox are looking to trade any outfielder they can as well as top prospect. They arise is the Sox have a strong outfield with Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr., Mookie Betts and Bryce Bentz. Benintendi finished runner up for rookie of the year and Jackie Bradley Jr. and Betts both won Gold Gloves Awards. The cost for a big bat will be in losing some of this young talent in the outfield. Another player who the Sox are looking at is homerun leader Giancarlo Stanton. For the Red sox to land him would cost the heaviest price. One Other player they have their eye on is Eric Hosmer, who they could definitely land for some prospects and Bentz.

In Conclusion, The Red Sox are definitely going to land a big bat. A big stick in the middle of the lineup will give them more potential to grab a World Series ring. If a homerun hitter will cost them a star outfielder, the Red Sox must be willing to pay the price
