Smithfield point guard drives in on the Rams defense

The Lafayette Rams first game was this past Wednesday versus the Smithfield Packers, and they did not disappoint. The game started off somewhat slowly and the score was close after the first quarter, but as the game went on the Rams pulled away and ran off with the lead.

Senior shooting guard Keyshawn Jefferson dropped 41 points while shooting 11-18 at the free throw line and making five three’s. The next highest scorer was Tyler Neville with 11 points. The Rams starting five going into Wednesday’s game were star point guard Timmy Woolum, Keyshawn Jefferson, Will darling, Sutton Perozek, and Tyler Neville.

Cross town rival Warhill offers a greater challenge to the Rams . The game will be at Warhill Friday at 7 Pm. The Rams have plenty young talent that will be needing to step up if they want to keep winning. Senior shooting guard Keyshawn Jefferson will be the main scorer for the Rams as he proved he can get to the rim efficiently while also being able to pull up from behind the arc. The facilitator of the team will be Senior point guard Timmy Woolum. Look for Timmy to do more scoring as the season goes on and he reains a main part of the offense.  Senior power forward Sutton Perozek is a great shooter with clamps on defense.

The Rams’ chemistry on the court looked second to none on Wednesday, with all the players working with unity and precision. Everyone on the team is excited for the season, and ready to go far into the playoffs.
