Alex Cora was a very successful baseball player with 14 years under his belt. He spent the majority of his career in Los Angeles with the Dodgers. In the 7 years he spent with them, he played 684 games, had 1961 at bats, scored 203 runs, and got 482 hits and 173 RBI’s. After he spent his time with the Dodgers, he bounced around between Cleveland and Toronto before making his home at Boston. Alex Cora was a part of the 2007 World Series team as a middle infielder.

Cora doesn’t have any managerial experience in the MLB but has worked for ESPN. He was General Manager of the Puerto Rico national team. The Red Sox hope that Cora can get them out of their postseason slump. The Red Sox have been in this horrible slump since 2013. Farrell, the former Boston Red Sox Manager, took the Red Sox to World Series during his first year, but since then he has only won one playoff game.

The Red Sox were the last team to integrate in the MLB. For Puerto Rico, this is a huge step. The first Puerto Rican general manager, Cora received a three-year deal with Boston.  Cora currently is with the Astros, who are in the World Series. He was considered one of the top candidates for an upcoming managerial position.

Cora will be a good fit for Boston because of his experience within the league and with the Red Sox. This will be big for Puerto Rico and its people.
