LAFAYETTE SPOTLIGHT: Roberta Lanham

Roberta Lanham is an independent living teacher who gives kids the essential skills that so often falls through the cracks

Interview:

Q- Where are you from?
A- Born in Georgia, but grew up in Hampton, Va.

Q- How long have you been teaching at LHS?

A- Four years.

Q- Where did you go to college?

A- TNCC for and AAS degree CNU for my BA

Q- What do you teach?

A- Independent Living, Nutrition and Wellness, Child Development and Parenting.

Q- Why did you decide to become a teacher?

A- Because I love learning and I wanted to share my passion for learning with my students. I feel like I can help students understand the relevance of what they are learning and how it will be used in their adult lives.

Q- Do you have any advice for the youth today?

A- My advice is do not expect anything to be given to you. You must work hard, believe you can and you will succeed. Don’t go through life thinking the world owes you. You are in charge of your own destiny.

Q- What’s your favorite cheese?

A- I am not sure I have a favorite I love all cheese.

Q- Do you have an original joke?

A- Yes but it is too long to tell come by one day and I will share LOL. I am know for telling corny jokes.

Q- If you could have the power of any animal but to get bit you would have to be bit by the animal which one would you choose and why?

A- I would say a tiger because they are both beautiful and quick.

Q- If you were stranded on a deserted island which 3 LHS teachers would you want with you and why?

A- Mrs. Nickerson because she is fun to hang out with, Ms. West because we both like to go to the beach, Mrs. Hundley because we both like games and I think we could make our own casino LOL.
