Lafayette Spotlight! Christopher Schroeder

Meet the one and only Mr. Schroeder of Lafayette Highschool! One of the first to graduate from Lafayette when it was just founded in 1973. Did you know that he went and lived in Peru for a time?

 

What do you teach here?

I started Teaching Spanish but now I teacher ESL (English as a Second Language).

 

Why did you come to LHS and how many years have you been here?

I have been at Lafayette for 5 years and I actually graduated in 1988 from Lafayette, so that is one reason why I came here.

 

What college did you go to?  

Virginia Tech majored in Animal Science;  Catholic Theological Union, Master of Divinity,  Fundación Iberoamericana, Lima Peru Master of Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Longwood and UVA for teaching license.

 

Why did you decide to teach/work here?

I was familiar with the school and my mother was living in town ( she was older).

 

What do you love about your job?

I love seeing the Student be successful by staying in school and graduating. Helping students have self- confidence is also a joy to me.

 

If you could meet anyone from any time in the past, who would you choose and why?

St Paul the Apostle because he had a strong conversion in life and wrote many letters in the New Testament of the Bible.

 

What’s your favorite cheese?

Swiss,  it has holes and is not perfect like people.

 

If you got supernatural powers by being bitten by an animal which animal, would it be and why? (Example, bitten by a spider created spiderman). 

An eagle, so I can fly and see extremely well things very far off.

 

What’s your favorite joke?

Why are fish so smart? ( Because they travel in schools)

 

What’s your favorite place you’ve ever traveled to?  

Machu Picchu, Peru. Glacier National Park MT, Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany.
