Lafayette Spotlight: Michael Jarvis

Ever wanted to get a better look into who Dr. Jarvis is? Read on to get the inside scoop!

Ever wanted to meet one of the leading forces of Lafayette? Well now’s your chance! Here’s some questions we asked our beloved assistant principal Dr. Jarvis to answer:

 

Q–What do you do/teach here?
A–Assistant Principal.
 
Q–Why did you come to LHS and how many years have you been here?
A–I was a former high school teacher and wanted an opportunity to return to high school as an Assistant Principal.
Q–What college did you go to?
A–Randolph-Macon, University of Richmond and Virginia Tech.
Q–Why did you decide to be an assistant principal?
A–I want to help support students to grow and be ready to make a positive impact in the world as an adult.
Q–What do you love about your job?
A–I love mentoring and helping students problem-solve as well as being able to experience all of the great clubs, organizations, and sports teams that our students participate in throughout the Lafayette community.
Q–What is you ideal vacation?
A–A beach.
 
Q–If you got supernatural powers being bitten by an animal, which animal would it be and why?
A–A golden retriever because they are fun, happy and love water.
Q–If you were to coach a sport, which would you choose and why?
A–Basketball, because it is my favorite sport to play.
Q–Compare your own high school to Lafayette
A–My high school was a little bigger than Lafayette, with about 1600 students, but had all the same great opportunities students at Lafayette have!
Q–What do you bring for lunch on a typical day?
A–I usually stay so busy I don’t eat lunch. 😬
