Why did Ms. Scott start teaching? Read more to find out why.

Q–Why did you come to LHS and how many years have been there?

A–I came to LHS because I received my admin endorsement a year ago and was looking for a position to grow in and leave teaching. Last August started my first year.

Q–What college did you go to?

A–I went to community college first, Montgomery County Community College, then Lincoln University, and then Widener University.

Q–Where are you from originally?

A–I am from Philadelphia, PA and from a town called Gulph Mills which is 25 mins from Center City Philadelphia.

Q–Why did you decide to teach?

A–I wanted to leave the field of social work where I spent 30+ years and try to reach kids on a new level in a different setting.

Q–What do you love about your job?

A–I love the fact that I get to help teens find their way and gain a different perspective on how to go about their life. Build pathways.

Q–If you could meet anyone from any time in the past, who would you choose and why?

A–There are quite a few people that pop to mind but I will have to say Barack Obama. I find him to be a very charismatic person. The strength that he showed as a black man facing so much adversity when he was elected President of The United States was inspiring. He kept his poise and his composure and was also still able to be a solid father for his daughters and solid husband to his wife. I cant imagine the stuff he “took” behind the scenes (but then again I can imagine it because I see it as a black woman) but he STILL performed the toughest job of all in trying to lead this country. (I have also read all of his books-amazing man!)

Q–If you could be born in another time, which time would that be and why?

A–I can’t pick another time, especially in this country because there has never been a time where it was safe to be black in the US. If I have to pick a time, I will say during the time of the Dahomey Tribe in Africa during the 1840’s. This was a tribe of African female warriors. But like in the movie Woman King, I would have helped to stop slave trade not participate in it (as are some facts of the actual tribe).

Q–Is teaching your dream job?

A–No. My dream job has always been being a top chef (Michelin-level type chef).

Q–Hot or cold?

A–Hot, I do not like being cold. The hotter the better.

Q–What was your favorite subject in school?

A–Psychology.
