One common question around Lafayette High School is, “Is Junior, Braden Lee human?” Keep reading to find out the inside scoop of the day in the life of Lafayette Celebrity, Braden Lee. He is a 4-time regional champion in three sports and 4 sport state qualifier. He also is a straight a student and all around nice guy. All this success makes us ponder the question, “How?”. Many would look at this 5’10 white kid and think “man this kid must really suck at sports.” However, this is obviously not the case.

Braden swimming the a relay at swimming states in 2022. He was apart of a relay which was #1 in the state. His team went on to win state runner-up.

He is fresh off of his second High School regional appearance.  I first congratulated him on his regional championship last Saturday in track and the state performance in swimming on Friday. Then I asked him about his recent performance.

Braden said he is very proud of his team. “We did very well in all aspects of the game. All of our swimmers got the job done and that’s why we won. 3 years in a row, that’s all I have to say.”

He is referring to Lafayette’s 3rd year in a row winning the regional championship. I asked him if he dedicated his win to anyone.

He said, “I would like to thank my mom, dad, the rest of my family and all of my coaches. They helped me get to this point.”

After that generic response from him I asked him about his background and how it effected him to be the athlete he is today.

He talked about his home life saying, “I came up from the trenches, there was some nights we couldn’t eat.”

That obviously is a complete lie as he grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia. His home life is a common discussion as he is completely off social media. This could mean two things: He is severely sheltered, or he is not human and in fact a robot.

Of course he denied those rumors saying he is in fact “human”.

All of his success does not come easy as he has one of the hardest daily schedules around the school

His day consists of swim practice at 5:45, then school for seven hours, and then baseball or track after school. Saying “Its really not hard for someone like me. I’m just league bound.”

As a sophomore, Braden started for the Lafayette baseball team. He batted over .300 and had an OBP over .400. He is looking forward to a successful year on the baseball field.

I thanked him for his time and wished him good luck on the upcoming season. He is projected to be the starting shortstop for the baseball team and is it is most likely he will qualify yet again for states in outdoor track.

As the year progresses, we will continue to give updates on his accomplishments in all three of his sports.
