Dhar Mann vs Fair Wages

Who’s on the side of the angels?

Successful Entrepreneur Dhar Mann manages a YouTube channel dedicated to creating mediocre skits that attempt to spread messages of positivity to his audience. While this may seem noble at first, recent actions put into question on whether or not he is the one who needs correcting. Recently, contractors have been protesting outside of Dhar Mann’s recording studios requesting livable wages. In retaliation, Dhar Mann has fired contractors fighting for better pay, increasing the tension between Dhar Mann, his staff, and now the public. But who is Dhar Mann and how did we get to this point?

Both Dhar Mann’s positive and negative influence helps him to be a successful figure in YouTube’s environment.

Opoyi.com defines Dhar Mann as an online entrepreneur best known for his channel with the same name. Sitting at over 17.7 million subscribers on YouTube alone, Dhar Mann’s content consists of skits that explore humble beginnings and mistreatment in common day-to-day issues. What makes Dhar Mann stand out from similar channels is the quality of his content, or lack there of. Many argue that videos from Dhar Mann Studios are low-budget content that are littered with poor acting and predictable, cliché plotlines. Whether it be the acclaim from fans or the criticism from detractors, there’s no denying that Dhar Mann is a massive success. With the amount of views and reach Dhar Mann has over the YouTube landscape, he should have enough to sufficiently afford greater resources while still being able to live a luxurious life as a content creator and entrepreneur. However, protestors would reveal that wealth may have gone over his head.

Since Dhar Mann is a content creator and not an professional studio, he must rely on contractors to act in his videos. With the exception of a few notable labor laws, Dhar Mann gets the final say in the guidelines workers must follow, the pay they will receive, and the work they are expected to accomplish. Although salaries can vary on contractor, many expect workers to receive payment depending on their experience, the amount of money the company is making, and the difficulty of the labor provided. Dhar Mann’s company receives millions every year and his cast consists of talented actors such as Mair Mulroney and Colin Borden. With these factors in mind, audience members expect contractors to receive high wages for their work on the channel.

Standing in front of multiple skyscrapers, Dhar Mann’s wealth serves to almost mock his contractors.

However, that was not the case. As of 2023, protestors have rallied against the entrepreneur in order to receive better pay. Outside Dhar Mann studios, staff members demand better working conditions. Some actors explain how they’re having trouble affording rent and how Dhar Mann himself refuses to listen. USA Herald explains how disgruntled workers have requested to have a meeting with Dhar Mann regarding the issue, but their boss never arrived. This disappointed attendees as Dhar Mann promised them that they will discuss the issue and try to meet a compromise, further enforcing the idea that Dhar Mann does not listen to his staff members. To make matters worse, the meeting was eventually cancelled following a reschedule of the event, serving as the straw that broke the camel’s back.  Workers eventually reached the conclusion that if Dhar Mann isn’t going to see them for their requests, they were going to take that issue directly to him.

Although Dhar Mann has yet to make an official statement on the issue, he hasn’t completely ignored the actions of these people. In response to the backlash contractors are giving the entrepreneur, Dhar Mann has been firing contractors caught outside the building. While this is done to control the outrage, it’s only serving to further tarnish his image. Even with these firings, workers are not looking to back down, and neither is Dhar Mann. It’s only a matter of time before the director is forced to make a decision between his staff and his policies, and it’s becoming clear which side he favors more.
