We’re roughly 22 matches out of 38 in the Premier League season, and this year has been nothing less than a blast. There have been many shocks throughout the table including Arsenal and Manchester City sitting atop and infamous clubs like Everton fighting relegation as well as top teams like Liverpool and Chelsea sitting in a mid-table battle.

As stated before, Arsenal sits in 1st while having one of their best seasons since 2003 with 51 points through 21 matches. Manchester City follow closely with 48 points through 22 matches, although, they are facing many financial fair play breaches with the possibility to receive a point deduction or even expulsion, along with Manchester United having 46 points through 23 matches played. Newcastle United round out the top 4 and the final champions league spot having picked up 41 points through 22 matches, having one of their best years ever due to new Saudi Arabian ownership and new signings.

Just outside the top 4 come the Tottenham Hotspur qualifying for a Europa League spot, followed by the likes of the youngsters at Brighton and Hove Albion, newly promoted Fulham, and Brentford. Former Premier League winner Liverpool, who are in the midst of their worst season to date. This is very much due to terrible play from new $85 million signing Darwin Nunez as well as a multitude of injuries amongst their starting lineup. Coming in 10th another famous club and former Champions League winner Chelsea. Despite having spent $600 million in the last 6 months and $300 million in January alone under new owner Todd Boehly and new manager Graham Potter.

Just outside the top 10 are teams looking to make an end of season push such as Aston Villa in 11th, Crystal Palace in 12th, and Leicester City in 13th who have turned their season around after a rough start to the season. Speaking of rough starts, coming in 14th we have Nottingham Forrest who started very poorly and have recently revived their season following their promotion from the Championship last year. Forrest is just now starting to mesh their record breaking 27 signings this season.

Teams in 15th and below are fighting to stay up and refuse relegation. In 15th place Wolverhampton Wanderers had a bottom of the table start to the season and are looking to reverse results in the second half. West Ham United, who in recent years have found success with their striker Michail Antonio, unfortunately this season haven’t followed suit. Leeds United are currently 1 spot above the relegation zone despite being a very entertaining team with a full American midfield and youngsters throughout the squad.

The relegation zone is not a fun spot to be in but that exactly where these 3 teams find themselves. Everton in 18th have been very bad to begin the season but new manager Sean Dyche has brought hope after winning his first game as manager against top of the table Arsenal. While Everton have hope, 19th place Bournemouth can’t say the same as they are horrible. This club will be relegated despite their ambitious efforts. In last but certainly not least is Southhampton. In the middle of an unfortunate season Southampton are filled with good players such as James Ward-Prowse who’s arguably the best set piece taker of all time and Che Adams who’s not having a great year but is a solid striker.

There is still a lot of time and matches to go until the season is over, but we have a very good idea in which way squads are trending following the January transfer window. All fans are hoping the season is setting up for a matchday 38 championship decider.
