World Cup: Group B, Evaluation.

Final Standings and Results

November 21st, The World Cup began for the teams of Group B, (United States, England, Iran, and Wales). The first game of the group was England Vs. Iran at 8:00am, where England went on to win 6-2 absolutely destroying the Iranians, with Bukayo Saka earning the man of the match award earning a 9.0 match rating with 2 goals. The second match was a warm welcoming for the United States against Wales. It was United States first world cup appearance in 8 years and it was Wales first World Cup appearance in 64 years. Game two kicked off at 2:00pm, USA took the lead in the 36th minute with a Timothy Weah goal and a Christian Pulisic (Captain America, LeBron James) assist. Wales later went on to tie the game with a very unforced penalty that was given by Walker Zimmerman and scored by Gareth Bale, but only by a very small margin because of the world class goalie Matt Turner guessed the correct direction but wasn’t able to get a hand on it. Thats all she wrote with match day one coming to a stop for group B with England topping the group, Wales in second, United states in third only due to fair play, and Iran in an expected last place in the group.

The U.S. Men’s soccer went through much struggle on their pathway to the world cup, and this logo represents freedom and dedication.

And with that being said, match day two is off and running. The first game of the group was a must win game for both teams in Iran vs. Wales. It was a very boring game until the 86th minute when the Wales goalie got sent off with a red card for committing a horror tackle on Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi. That was a complete game changer because after he was sent off Wales completely fell apart. After Wayne Hennesey, the Wales goalie, got sent off there were four minutes of regular tie left with nine minutes of added on time. In that short thirteen minutes Iran managed to score twice making the final score 2-0 and destroying many Welsh players and fans hopes and dreams of getting out of the group stage. Even though the Iran vs. Wales game had a pretty lively end to it, it was definitely not the game of the day. Up next at 2:00pm, United States against England, Soccer Vs. Futbol, the game of the century some may say…… It strikes 2:00pm, and the games off and running. It is a very back in forth game for the first 45 with many chances from both sides but neither have finished any of their chances so the score remains 0-0 at the half. America all of a sudden come out to the second half with a different type of drive, they must have gone on TikTok and watched all of the beautiful patriotic TikTok’s that were all over the place because they came on to that field in the second half and started dominating, America was battering England left and right winning every 50/50 ball and shutting down every one of England’s attacks before they could even begin. Unfortunately, The United States and Captain America couldn’t find the back of the net despite the battering that they put on England in the second half. And with that match day two is complete, with England still at the top of the table with 4 points, Iran somehow in second with three points, America in third with two points, and Wales in last with still only one point.

The three lions of England mean a lot to the residents of England, and it shows a great example of pride for the people

Going into match day three, there were many possible outcomes anyone could still go through. Both games are airing at 2:00pm England just needing to avoid a loss and Iran and America both needing a win. First, we’ll cover the England Vs. Iran game since it doesn’t mean as much as the other game, The game kicks off and both teams are looking pretty strong. Its level at 0-0 at half, Wales with a little hope, come back out onto the field and concede straight away from a Marcus Rashford freekick, not even two minutes later England score again and make it 2-0 leaving Wales with almost no hope left, and in the 68th minute Marcus Rashford scores another sealing the game tight, England go on to win the game 3-0. Now for the important game, the game that means everything for American and Iranian payers and fans. BOOM! the game kicks off and both teams are showing loads of energy, and for the first highlight in the 38th minute Christian Pulisic the one and only Captain America SCORES! He may have lost the ability to be a father for that goal, but he became a founding father after scoring. Right before halftime in the 45th minute Timothy Weah bags one more for the U.S. but it got called back because he was apparently offsides. With that said nothing really goes on in the second half its just a very back in fourth game, but the game ends 1-0 to the United States!

Group B is over, and the final standings are as expected with England in first with 7 points, The United States in second with 5 points, Iran in third with 3 points and Wales in last with only 1 point.
