Trump has sparked outrage among many Americans from the Alaskan Pipeline, to women’s rights, to the immigrant ban, but he has also remained likeable to many.

A voting sticker from the Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton election.

I surveyed forty five people and asked them how they felt about Trump prior to the election and post election if their opinion had become more favorable, less favorable, or unchanged. I had thirty students who found him unfavorable before and found him either disliked him the same amount or even less after the election. I had twelve students who found him favorable prior to the election and either liked him more or the same after the election. I had two students who disliked him before the election and now find him favorable post election. I had one student find him favorable before he was elected and then after they found him less favorable.

Reasons I heard for why people liked Trump were because they didn’t like Hillary Clinton, or because he is our president so there is nothing we can do about it, or they like him because he speaks his mind. A few of the reasons students wrote about why they disliked Trump were that he is irrational, immature, he has been labeled as a racist and a sexist, and many disagreed with building a wall along our border.

Senior Megan Williams said, “His actions since being inaugurated have been irrational and I think that he’s just jumping the gun before thoroughly thinking through his decisions.” Megan found Trump unfavorable prior to the election and has continued to find him unfavorable.

Some students were unfavorable prior to the election and now find him more favorable post election. Senior, Anabelle Diaz wrote, “I learned that i need to accept him even though he is not a good person in general he will change things to affect our future.” He is our president and his actions affect all of us and will continue to affect us while he is in office.

One student voiced their concern with the people Trump and the people he elected to his cabinet. They wrote, “His cabinet appointments have virtually no experience in their new offices.”

Through my survey I have concluded that since the election has passed Trump has become more unfavorable than he is liked.
