On August 28th, 2022 at the Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift announced that she was coming out with a new album called “Midnights”. Everyone was surprised, and Taylor Swift’s fans (“Swiftys”)  are counting down the days until its promised release on October 21st 2022. Many are wondering what this new album will be like and whether it will be pop like her albums “Reputation” and “1989,” country like her albums “Taylor Swift” and “Red,” or if it will be a little bit of both country and pop in one album. No one knows for sure, but from previous albums we know that Swift never disappoints.

Taylor Swift’s career has never come easy to her. It took a lot of hard work and very long days to reach the point she is at now. She’s had several bumps in the road over her 16 year career in the music industry. There was a time when she took a break just to get away from it all for a little bit. From March 2016 to August 2017, she enjoyed an extended hiatus, following the massive success of “1989”. In an interview with VOGUE, she discussed why she was taking a break from the spotlight, and what she planned to do with all her free time. She was able to reflect on this time of her life and the results to follow were extraordinary. Then in 2017 Taylor announced that she was coming out with her first album since her “time out,” called “Reputation.” It helped re-launch her career and she came out with 4 albums after that: “Lover,” “Folklore,” “Evermore,” and then “Red (Taylor’s Version)” in the fall of 2021. All of her albums have been loved by the public, smashed records like most listened to album in a day by a female, and won countless awards.

Camryn Gray, a staff writer for the The Uproar, wrote in her article Taylor Swift Is The Music Industry, “Taylor Swift is a titan of industry in music, and she never fails to deliver to her millions of fans. Swift is more than just a singer. She is a role model and a gifted songwriter. She has won many awards, sold out countless arenas, released multiple successful albums, and more.”

“Midnights” will be Swift’s 10th studio album.  Her oeuvre includes 9 original studio albums, 2 re-recorded studio albums, 5 extended plays (EP), 3 live albums, and 14 compilations. The expectations for her latest endeavor are high. Some of her tracks have been pre-released in a new series she calls “Midnights Mayhem with Me.” This includes track 13-Mastermind, Track 8- Vigilante Shit, Track 7- Question, Track 6-Midnight Rain, Track 2- Maroon, and Track 3-Anti–Hero.  Swift did mention in a video that Anti–Hero is one of her favorite songs she has ever written, leaving fans beyond excited to listen to it.

Fans are thrilled for “Midnights” to come out.  Mixed with the excitement of anticipation is speculation about whether she will go on tour with this album. The last tour Taylor Swift went on was the “Reputation Tour” in 2018. She had planned “Lover Fest” for her 2019 album “Lover,” but Covid unfortunately canceled that tour and Covid has restricted her from touring ever since.  Fans are hoping that this will be the album she takes on tour. Time will only tell.
