This truck was hit by a teen driver too busy texting while driving to notice that he had run a stop sign at a busy intersection.

The number of crashes due to texting and driving have definitely increased from before. It is safe to say that it is one of the most leading causes of car accidents. Many would expect teens to be the ones who text and drive but the truth is that adults are also very high up there on texting and driving. One officer at Lafayette says that educational driving should be paid more attention to and that people should be more aware of texting and driving. People have to now always looks and be more aware of their surroundings and the other drivers. Nobody’s life should be lost due to an accident that could have been prevented if they had waited to text. Many believe that the only reason why people text and drive is because it is more convenient, quick, and it is fast. People get so caught up with having to reply immediately to a text that they don’t realize what the consequences are until it’s too late. We think that we are in complete control of the phone and wheel but we really aren’t. Texting and driving is definitely a distraction to the driver and puts everybody in the car in danger.
