Week 8 in college football is over and had many surprises.

Entering week 8, there were 11 undefeated FBS teams. Exiting, it was down to 9. The week started with an upset in Boone, North Carolina as Coastal Carolina fell to Appalachian state off a game winning field goal by the Mountaineers senior, Chandler Stanton. That would give Coastal their first loss of the season and more than likely diminishes their small hopes for the playoffs.

With the exception of Coastal Carolina, moving into Saturday, there were 9 undefeated teams. Starting off the weekend, Cincinnati survives Navy with a close 27- 20 win. The number three team in the nation Oklahoma scores 21 in the fourth quarter to survive the upset against the 5 loss Kansas Jayhawks. After a close loss against Texas and multiple one possession wins against non-top 25 teams, Oklahoma has shocked many to maintain their undefeated record. After a whopping 9 overtimes, 9th ranked Penn State falls to Illinois 20-18 and loses their undefeated record. The second top 10 undefeated team to lose on Saturday would be Oklahoma state. A slow game in Ames against Iowa State would cost Oklahoma state the game.

Now a serious Heisman contender, Brennen Armstrong would lead Virginia to a win over Georgia Tech 48-40 while throwing for almost 400 yards with 2 rushing touchdowns. UVA is now second for the ACC coastal. The next 3 weeks, they play 3 top 25 teams in BYU, Notre Dame, and Pittsburg. Pittsburgh is currently the favorite to win the ACC coastal. Moving to the second Coastal team in Virginia, Virginia Tech lost to Syracuse which pretty much seals their chances for a chance to win the ACC.

After many upsets and big games over the week, the new week 9 top 25 has been set. In number win with no surprise, is Georgia. Georgia started the season with a big win against Clemson, and is the obvious front runner for the College Football Champions. In number 2, a non power five school, Cincinnati. A magical undefeated season fr Cincinnati will continue as they play Tulane. With Oklahoma’s close victory against a bad Kansas team, Alabama will move into 3rd this week. Oklahoma now down to 4th. Rounding out the top 5, the Big 10 favorites, Ohio state will move in at only 1 loss this season. Michigan will be placed right behind their rivals at 6. In 7th, Oregon would take Penn States spot after PSUs 9th overtime loss. 8th place is the undefeated Michigan state. They will have a big game this week against their cross-state-rival Michigan. After a sad loss against Purdue at home, Iowa drops down to 9th. Lastly, in 10th , one loss Ole Miss.
