The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays went face-to-face on October 20, 2020 in Arlington, Texas at Global Life Field. Both teams were hopeful to grab the championship title for the 2020 World Series but knew that there would be only one champion. The Los Angeles Dodgers were the #1 seed in the National League while the Tampa Bay Rays were the #1 in the American League.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Series prohibited both teams from traveling. Instead, after Game 2 and Game 5, the Dodgers and Rays were given “off-days” to rest and recover to continue to fight for their win. Despite the ongoing pandemic, World Series officials allowed family and close friends of players to enter the stadium and watch each game in-person.

In the middle of Game 6, Los Angeles Dodgers’ third baseman, Justin Turner, tested positive for COVID-19. The star player Justin Turner Contracted Covid-19 and TMZ Sports let people know about it In fact, “Turner was pulled during the 7th inning of game 6 and was told to isolate but MLB says he refused to comply and returned to the field to celebrate”. Due to Turner’s poor decision-making regarding his COVID-19 diagnosis and his wrongfulness to celebrate with fellow players, which goes against MLB protocol, there will be a full-investigation. Because of the positive COVID-19 test, both Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays had to be tested and receive a negative result; TMZ Sports said “travel Plans for the teams to return home were contingent on the result of the test”.

In Game 6, Blake Snell, renowned Tampa Bay Rays pitcher, was taken out due to the manager’s preference and decision to remove Snell from the pitcher’s mound. Many baseball fans and teammates of Snell were very confused and unsure of the decision made. This could potentially have been the reason behind the Tampa Bay Rays’ loss in the 2020 World Series as Blake Snell is one of the most dominant left-handed pitchers in the game of baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers were able to successfully win Games 1, 3, 5, and 6, while the Tampa Bay Rays were able to only win Games 2 and 4. That being said, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series for the first time in more than 30 years. In an exclusive interview, Los Angeles Dodgers’ short-stop Corey Seager, said to the MLB, “This team was incredible all throughout the year. all the postseason, all through quarantine, we never stopped we kept it rolling”.

After the 2020 World Series champions were announced, fans weighed in.

“I believe that the Los Angeles Dodgers deserved their win because of their phenomenal pitching, hitting, as well as their way to fight in particular situations during the game. As much as I had hoped the New York Yankees would have succeeded to the 2020 World Series, I was happy for the Dodgers because of their perseverance throughout each of the games,” said life-long baseball fan, Ty S.

“I think the Dodger’s win was really good because Clayton Kershaw redeemed himself from his prior struggles in the post season. Plus, I think it was good because of the shortened season that the best team record-wise won so there is no dispute,” said another life-long baseball fan, Mike C.

The Los Angeles Dodgers worked hard to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays. They practiced diligently, had excellent chemistry and teamwork, and persevered throughout the season despite the ongoing international pandemic. Despite the hard work of the Tampa Bay Rays, they were not able to clinch Game 6, hoping to possibly win Game 7. The Dodgers stated to the It is unsure how the 2021 MLB season will play out, but many baseball fans, along with myself, are looking forward to another season of Americas favorite sport.
