One of my favorite ways life springs up around my neighborhood is through the small, colorful mushrooms that pop up in my backyard when the weather gets rainy.

As someone who’s always taken great joy in the natural world, I find that living in the suburbs can feel quite depressing at times: too much gray, not enough green, everything concrete with only a few stunted decorative shrubs to serve as a breath of fresh air.
