Harrison Ford was born on July 13,1942 to Christopher Ford, an advertising executive and Dorothy Ford, a stay at home mom in Chicago, Illinois. Harrison Ford’s early life was an average American child hood. His acting career began out like many great actors, not on the screen, but on the stage. Ford started acting during college when he signed up for a theater class on a whim, hoping for an easy grade. “I was terrified to get up in front of people, but I really enjoyed the storytelling part.” He told People Magazine.

After college Harrison traveled to Hollywood with his future wife, Mary Marguardt. He began at Columbia Pictures for one hundred and fifty dollars a week. Later he would leave Columbia to work for Universal Studios. In 1966 he got his first screen acting role in “Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round.”  He

was uncredited for his role and was told by a studio executive, “You’ll never make it in this business.” Disheartened with his lack of success, Ford left acting to pursue a career in carpentry.

In 1973, Ford took another stab at the acting world with his first major acting role as Bob Falfa in “American Graffiti.”  directed by George Lucas. 1977 was the year Ford’s acting career really took off, with one of his biggest roles to date, Han Solo from “Star Wars.” His portrayal of Solo made Hollywood
