When asked about how she likes community college, Madison Sybert replied, “I really like it because it’s easy to navigate and everyone is very friendly there. I feel really good about my decision. I feel like I was really smart to choose community college.”

Several people do not feel ready or prepared enough to go away to a university or college. Some feel like they are not ready to be on their own in the world yet, and that is okay. Although you are bound to make friends away at college, it is okay to take a year or two and stay home while attending community college. When asked if she enjoyed living at home while attending classes, Madison Sybert answered, “Yes and no. I like living at home, but I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have the full dorm-life experience.”

To some, the idea of community college has a negative connotation. Some believe that those who attend community college are missing out on the “full college experience”. Madison Sybert notes, “When I first made the decision to attend community college, a lot of people kind of picked on me for it and told me how much of a waste it was. People actually still do have a lot of negative things to say about me attending community college, but I have learned to just ignore what others think, considering it is my life, and not theirs.” In sum, community college is not a bad option. If it better suits you and your lifestyle, go for it. Don’t let what others say sway your decision. This is also applicable to those going away to college. If you love a college or university, go there and follow your dreams. You only have one life, so live it the way you enjoy most.
